The Spontaneous L.A. Art Trip

So, yesterday's lame little post, perhaps, kept you all wondering about my adventures yesterday.

During the week, I texted my artist friend Javier Sanchez that I wanted to hang out with him and his wife Margie,  and that "I wanted to get the whole gang together".

On Friday night at around 8:30 when I got out of work I checked my phone to see that Javier had responded with an invitation to join him and our friend Yasmina on a quick day-trip to L.A. to see artist Paul McCarthy give a talk the next day.

I thought, "what the heck? I have tomorrow off."

No sleep was had, but Javier, Yasmina, our friend Wade (who took the lovely studio photos of me in an earlier post), and I all headed off to California at 8:00 am the next morning.

The talk with McCarthy wasn't until 5 pm, so here is what we did with our spare time:

When driving out of Las Vegas, dirtbikers make the dust look like fog, something we pretty much never see in Las Vegas....

.....Silly photos that Wade took of me....impromptu photoshoots were bound to happen in a car full of photography/art kids...

....we stopped in Barstow where I had veggie spring rolls (which were disgusting) and....

.....delicious ice cream.....

....we finally arrived in Los Angeles and decided to visit the MOCA first, which is located next to the Disney concert hall which is pictured here....

....If my friends and I form a band, this will be in our album.....

.....this is the title of the show currently at the MOCA...artists begain 'destroying the picture' in this post WW2 era by burning or tearing the canvas, or adding crazy amounts of layers of medium....

...a sculpture outside....

.....work by guess who.....

I have a series of photos of famous artwork to follow...and the continuation of our trip, but I'm sleepy, and Selina is in the next room hanging out with Theresa and Ophelia and I want to be included!

So more tommorow my lovelies! Goodnight!
