Sooooo......here's what's happened today so far:
I had to go to a meeting at 8:00 in the morning for work :(
I got home around 10, and really only intended to sleep until 1, but stayed in a hibernation state until 2! Now I have to get ready for work and probably stay there well after midnight.
As you can plainly see, I will not have any time to have real adventures today, so I'm going to talk about something else instead.....animals!
My sister-in-law Kadi was over last night, and since Kadi is quite the animal lover, I usually talk about animals with her....and then make her look at the NSPCA website with me and imagine the pack of dogs I will own.
Last night, was no exception. The NSPCA is of course, the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The shelter is a no-kill one, which means they can only take so many animals until one is adopted.
When I had facebook, I would occasionally do the following to remind my friends, if they were looking for a pet, there were some great ones at their local shelter who needed homes. Plus, since most of the pets are mixed breeds, they're way cheaper than the pure-breds in the newspaper or online:
Mom, this one I call "Toodles in Grey"
A four month old puppy. This one reminds me of our dog Sandy my mom had when we were really little.
I mean....he's wearing a bow-tie for goodness sake!
And if you're not a dog person:
A kitten!
This cat's name is Barbara, and every time I read that name and look at this picture I laugh.
This is Tweety. He has been at the NSPCA for months! I assume this is because he is really talkative. When I visited a while back (because I like to torture myself) this cat jumped right into my lap and was incredibly friendly!!! He's also giant and amazing looking. If my lease didn't have a 'no cat' policy I'd have taken him home in a heartbeat.
I'm not tryin to be preachy, for people who want that special breed, it's obviously more convenient to buy from a private seller. I bought little Baxter, my shih tzu, from someone in the newspaper without even thinking about looking at the shelter! Had I known there were so many shih tzus already there for waaaay less, things may have been different.
Anywho, I doubt that the very small group of you who read this blog are looking for new pets, but if you know someone who is you can always recommend the NSPCA, or your local shelter.
Sorry, for the weird post, at least you got to look at some cute animal pictures!
Thanks for drinking beer, looking at blind dogs, and staying up to watch ferret videos with me!Love you!
ReplyDeleteAny time! Love you!
DeleteOh my gosh! I need that grey Toodles to go with my collection.
ReplyDeleteI know! And honestly, it's so tiny it wouldn't take up that much room!
